InsightFILL - An intelligent way to write psychological assessment reports.  Guided, not canned, report writing.

Our 90-second whiteboard video (found below) explains it all.

InsightFILL is discussed in detail in the book Essentials of School Neuropsychological Assessment by Daniel C. Miller, Denise E. Maricle.  Available on Amazon.

InsightFILL Reduces Your Mental Clutter

We all know that tests cross over many psychological processing areas.

And so, when we’re finished working with a client, it can be hard to pull apart sub-test scores from one test and then combine these results with other tests to look for trends!

To assist with this, we have created an easy way to input scores “as you see them” in your file.

Then InsightFill does the work of sorting, categorizing and organizing them from strengths to needs and by psychological processing areas. This means that, at a glance, the patterns pop out.

You can also grab and move sub-tests to categorical areas of your choice based on your own theoretical preferences (e.g. CHC, Neuropsychological Processing areas, etc.).

But we haven’t just stopped there.  We know that there are lots of times when we find it hard to simplify our language and to translate what we see into “real world” terms.  We call these “functional implications”.

And, we’ve created over 450 choices that are broken down via psychological processing areas and by age.

Saves you Time and Money

We adhere to the philosophy that it is important to work “smarter, not harder”.

While it may take you a while to get out of the habit of “thinking the old way”, users who take the time to develop their skills with InsightFill (usually around 3 reports) identify significant improvements in efficiency.

And, let’s face it, time means money or time means having a chance to do something other than spending a weekend or evening laboring over paperwork.

Plus, one of the biggest advantages in working with InsightFill is that it provides us with a common nomenclature to analyze findings and to report on them. This makes it much easier to “set standards” that are easy to implement and monitor with new team members.  In other words, the more straightforward it is to “show what’s expected”, the less time and money needed to train!

Reduces Errors and Improves Overall Quality

The last thing we wanted to develop was a “canned report”.

Instead, our goal is to help guide psychological practitioners by providing a better way to see the results so that our clinical interpretations are properly formulated.  We also thought of different ways where we can each use our own language to make sense of what we see and add our own flare.

Oh, and let’s face it, we are all guilty of cutting and pasting reports.

Don’t you get embarrassed when you forget to change the name or gender of someone in a report?  Also, it is very easy to miss something seemingly minor when it is embedded in a very thick file overflowing with protocol sheets, case notes and other stuff.

By using a simple data entry method to enter the scores and then having the software organize the results, we minimize lots of common mistakes.

As well, we can see where we may need to fill in some gaps with other testing if our results are not consistent.
